“From this…. to this..!”

I can not stress enough #adoptdontshop

There are so many babies waiting to be given a chance to actually live...
I started volunteering at the Leggett Pens in the mid summer 2023, by first offering to transport babies from Leggett to awaiting rescues, then I opened up my home for 4 babies that needed a foster until they were ready for transport, everything went successfully. The 2 transports were successful and the 4 babies are now where they were to go.
After Polk County approved me, I was then able to start actual volunteering at Leggett Pens, seeing first-hand just what was up.. my heart jumped beats every time, I would go pen to pen checking their waters, giving them night time treats. Each precious one jumped in joy to see me, except 1 little girl. She was terrified of EVERYTHING & EVERYONE, Winnie stayed under her bed all the time. However, when she was put outside in the playpen, to run- she would then get freedom and so much enjoy her time out of the 4x4 cement block kennel. However, the minute she would go back to her kennel, under the bed she would go.

Each night I would go check on the dogs, I would see Winnie's little nose poking out, so hungry for attention and love but terrified at the same time. I started going inside her kennel and holding her- our bond started there. After a week, I realized I needed Winnie as much as Winnie needed me.
Eventually Winnie came home with me and we began our journey of healing together.
I have said all of this to say this... there are thousands of Winnies out there that need the chance of knowing what it's like to be safe, loved and have a home of their own. The decision was made that Winnie's Warriors would soon become a sanctuary, a safe haven for many in need of safety, love and their second even third chance at life. 

Winnie has come a very long way since the Summer of 2023, she has brought much needed attention to saving shelter dogs, street dogs, dogs forgotten and given up on, 

Together with everyone involved with Winnies Warriors Sanctuary, we plan to provide that safe haven to any dog/cat in need.
